This eight-hour long hike is designed to reward explorers with the “gifts of the mountain”, set within the diverse natural landscapes of Hachimantai – home to Japan’s most important cultural wonders. Guests are offered an array of seasonal variations. In spring, witness the mystical Hachimantai Dragon Eye (Kagami pond); in autumn, admire vibrant foliage; and in Winter, explore snow-covered terrain by snowshoe. Each route is carefully tailored to individual interests and physical comfort.
Highlights include a sublime walk across the dramatic Yakeyashiri Lava Flow, where expansive views of Mt. Iwate reveals one of the the region’s most iconic peaks. Savour a thoughtfully prepared lunch featuring locally sourced ingredients.
